So I've tried to install Packet tracer as per normal and all seems to go well but the program will not open! Anyone with any ideas?
File: PacketTracer532_i386_installer-deb.bin
(I used chmod +x before running the installer).
I know it's in BETA but there were no issues with the last stable release and i've kept this distro updated.
FIX: Install something like WINE which will include dependencies that Packet Tracer also needs to run. I don't know why Cisco doesn't state the dependencies or include them!
Please tweet / like / +1 this post if you found it helpful! Thanks!
Update on 03 April 2013: Has anyone had a chance to test this on 13.04? I've not had a chance myself and would appreciate anyone commenting below. Thanks!
same... :(
ReplyDeleteHere's how to install Packet Tracer on 64-bit Linux: http://kaslnetwork.com/articles/installing-cisco-packettracer-5-3-2-on-64-bit-ubuntu-or-debian/
ReplyDeleteI mentioned above that it works once some of the dependencies are installed. I did not mean that you had to 'use' WINE to run packet tracer. The native program works with what I presume are shared dependencies that the WINE install, installs.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps.
Save it in your home directory, not in a folder. I was going mental because I was being told no such file or directory exists.
ReplyDelete>Save it directly in the home folder
>sudo chmod +x PacketTracer533_i386_installer-deb.bin
>./PacketTracer533_i386_installer-deb.bin
follow the promts.
Hope this helps, folks!
I've moved over to OSX now but I'll occasionally try this on new releases. I haven't got a use for my Raspberry Pi at the moment so will likely set it up on that at some point. I was also thinking to get a few for hosts on GNS labs as I have a new found love for that with no packet tracer on OSX...
ReplyDeleteyeah that's cool :)
