LTE Advanced makes such a big difference as it makes use of 2x2 MIMO technology to use multiple masts and can make more efficient use of the radio spectrum i.e. letting devices use 20 MHz down at 1800 MHz and also the 20 MHz at 2.6 GHz. While the headline speed is 300 Mbps, it is expected that speed tests in the region of 60 Mbps will be more the norm.

Huawei eyeing Nokia talent?

Huawei offers access to source code and equipment
This really does need the US to come out and reveal the 'smoking gun' that was the base of their ruling.
Yes it looks like Huawei have previously copied source code and been naughty on a few occasions but unless someone can prove they are breaching security then its a bit of a brand demanding exercises and nothing more in my opinion.. Huawei certainly seem keen to open up their source code to particular parties, thats not to say its the same across their products but it certain is a positive move.

Huawei gets rejected by Australia

Fibre to the cabinet (UK)
I learnt a couple of new things today about FTTC. Firstly I got to see the master socket that gets installed with these new VDSL installs (This is what that £70 install buys you).
It looks like the filter is now built into the socket. Whether that turns out to be a good or bad thing is yet to be seen. I suspect that it wouldn't be easy to replace from the looks of it. Not sure I like that.
Secondly, BT are using Huawei hardware (HG612) with PPoE. Pretty indifferent about that, IPoE would've been nice but I guess we're not there just yet...

Also the socket is made in three sections. There is a middle section that can be detached.
