iOS 7.1 update coming in a few days with SXSW app for iTunes Festival

Apple is on track to release iOS 7.1 very soon along with a SXSW companion app as the company prepares for the very first US iTunes Festival. (Streamed via iTunes)

According to John Gruber of the Daring Fireball blog, Apple is building the SXSW app exclusively for iOS 7.1 which gives the company just under 6 days to launch the update and the app, as SXSW starts on March 11th in Austin, Texas.

Liberty who? Virgin Media just got bought!

Liberty Global will acquire Virgin Media to create a cable giant. Sounds like a nice investment injection for Virgin as OpenReach start to rival products that are competitive for their providers (FTTC / FTTP) against Virgin (DOCSIS 3.0) in terms of speeds.

Huawei offers access to source code and equipment

This really does need the US to come out and reveal the 'smoking gun' that was the base of their ruling.

Yes it looks like Huawei have previously copied source code and been naughty on a few occasions but unless someone can prove they are breaching security then its a bit of a brand demanding exercises and nothing more in my opinion.. Huawei certainly seem keen to open up their source code to particular parties, thats not to say its the same across their products but it certain is a positive move.

US plans to block any plan to give UN more control of the internet

Apart from the stupid opening up of the domain name system (I quite liked it with a finite amount of possibilities) I can't think of much ICANN have done wrong. I kind of agree with the bit that the UN might bog the system down with taking too long to make decisions.
