It very much does sound like a rant and although there are some fair points buried in there, as well as some interesting links, be sure to read the comments as well! It does also neglect the fact that the alternative is sticking with IPv4 and having to deal with large scale NAT (LSN)

Packet Tracer not opening on Ubuntu (LInux)
I figured it out.
So I tried various versions 5.3.2 / 5.3.3 etc and nothing was working for me.
The program would happily install but would not run when I tried to launch it.
It would seem that the program has some dependencies it requires that it doesn't bother to check for from what I can tell. luckily these are easy to obtain although I've not been able to specifically identify them (lack of time).
The simple fix is to just install something like Wine and this will have packet tracer loading up (not in Wine before you think I'm cheating!) in no time.
I've created a bug report but it looked like there were similar reports for other versions of Linux and also they have some newer revisions of Packet Tracer in the pipeline which will hopefully remedy this.

Epic licenses Unreal Engine 3 to the FBI

"BT has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that the existing copper loop will be removed and replaced with FTTP serving 1,400 lines currently on the exchange, which incidentally is a Market 1 (BT only) area where only basic ‘up to’ 8Mbps ADSL services are currently available."
Sounds costly.

How to read Kindle books on LInux

Installing Cisco Packet Tracer on Ubuntu 12.04
So I've tried to install Packet tracer as per normal and all seems to go well but the program will not open! Anyone with any ideas?

(I used chmod +x before running the installer).
I know it's in BETA but there were no issues with the last stable release and i've kept this distro updated.
FIX: Install something like WINE which will include dependencies that Packet Tracer also needs to run. I don't know why Cisco doesn't state the dependencies or include them!

AnandTechs Retina Display Analysis

When you look at the pixel density compared to the other devices on that list it really does suddenly seem pretty impressive. Apples cinema displays are bloody good! I can see them using this to pitch that it makes use easier on the eyes for all those iBooks / Kindle books.

Skyrim 360 saves on PC version
Here's how to get a Xbox 360 game save of Skyrim onto your PC version!
Here’s how:
Copy the save to your 360 Formatted USB Drive. Open with Modio. Click open from device locate the save file and open it. Click the file contents tab. Extract savegame.dat rename to savegame.ess and put it into your Skyrim save game location.

Vodafone are pretty unhappy with Everything Everywhere's effort to get 4G out this year
Apparently BT Open Reach is enhancing the experience of moving away from Sub Loop Unbundling SLU (as opposed to the more familiar LLU) providers, which reads to me more like "We actually have a proper process in place now" to me.
Note this is different to Open Reach's GEA-FTTC, of which they are soon to be rolling out the faster 80/20 service come April.

Where as in decades before it was the US that lagged behind in mobile infrastructure, it now seems that the UK and picked up that moniker as we are going to be one of the last countries in the EU to implement a national 4G network.
On the flip side it looks like Everything Everywhere maybe get there wish to reuse their current spectrum frequencies for 4G before the designated 4G spectrum's which are to be auctioned.
