Recovering unallocated space of a USB flash drivE (Windows)

You know that annoying problem where a disk has been formatted strangely and you can't get the disk manager to delete all the partitions so you can merege them.

This is how you fix it.

Check this disk number in disk manager first:

Then open CMD, type: diskpart . Now your in the right utility.
Now type: select disk <disk number>
Then Clean and your all done!

You can also do create partition primary from here or just use the GUI.

Been on a bit of a gaming binge today so have been neglecting ukgamesdeals.co.uk and this blog a little. CS:GO, Rome 2: Total War and Bioshock: Infinite if your curious.

I can across a rather unusual bug in Bioshock: Infinite though. All keys in game would work apart from the WASD & arrow keys. As you can imagine this makes the game pretty much impossible to play.

The answer was found on the link below:

I have solved this problem. It was being caused by the 'synergy' service that was running on my computer. Synergy itself wasn't running, but the service was (it starts automatically if you install synergy as a service). You can actually reproduce the bug live while the game is running - stop the synergy service and the keys start working immediately, start the service and the keys stop working immediately. Bizarre.

I think I've've blogged about Synergy before, its a great tool but it can be buggy as well. Still, can't complain for a free application!

Packet tracer ICMP problem across Cloud-PT - simulating an ISP

OK so I'm trying to simulate the access part of an ISP. Its proving rather difficult though.  I can get all the clients to ping back to the interface on the ISP_EXG_R1 OK. I can dish out IP's to the customers WAN interface of their routers.

I can't for the love of me get the 'customers' public IP's to ping each other. Tracing a packet sees it being dropped on the routers interface where it should send the packet back out.

I have tried a 'ip route' but that did not work. I'm wondering if there is a limitation here. I can mapping multiple modems to one Ethernet cable...

Steam not loading on Mac 10.8.2 ?

Had a weird issues with steam on OS X 10.8.2 where the client would not launch. Absolutely nothing would load or start when trying to open the steam application.

This seemed to start when I tried to redeem a gifted Dota 2.

The only way I could fix the issue was to re-download the client and install over the existing install. Very strange.

Why i'm starting to hate loving my Nokia Lumia 920

There seems to be an issue with the proximity sensor where on calls the screen will go dark straight away as if you have the phone pressed to your ear. The only way to get the screen on for a fraction of a second is to the hit power button and then try and tap the hang up button before the screen goes off. As you can imagine, using IVR menu systems is a pain and i've left countless voice-mails.

Google revealed that I wasn't alone in this issue and it looks like when dust gets in the ear piece it can easily travel across to the front facing camera and the proximity sensor... What a design flaw!!

So so the phone is less than 28 days old so I give Phones4u a ring (Mines a offline Lumia 920 red) and they ask me the usual questions:

Have you got a screen protector on?
Have you tried resetting the phone?
Are there any other issues?

I hadn't done a factory reset but agreed to do this. I had to call back after 40 minutes as the spinning cogs logo hadn't progressed and they advised me it was bricked. I'd already googled and wp central suggested its bricked, although there was an unofficial workaround I didn't want to void the warranty if the device had any flash counters.

I got a replacement code but nearly every damn Phones4u in the SW London area didn't seem to have stock of this particular model so I now have to wait to send my device back and then they will send me a new one. Awful customer service on Phones4u's part. Pretty poor QA testing on Nokia's part... I was seriously considering jacking it in for the HTC or Samsung WP8 devices... We'll see how the replacement goes...
