AT&T could buy Europe's biggest mobile phone network (and Verizon's former owner)
That'd certainly shake things up. Also they'd gain some Cable and Wireless assets so it has wide spreading consequences!

Liberty who? Virgin Media just got bought!
Liberty Global will acquire Virgin Media to create a cable giant. Sounds like a nice investment injection for Virgin as OpenReach start to rival products that are competitive for their providers (FTTC / FTTP) against Virgin (DOCSIS 3.0) in terms of speeds.
From the Inquirer:
US CABLE TV COMPANY Liberty Global has picked up Virgin Media for around £14bn.
Combining the two firms is subject to shareholder approval and will build a powerhouse firm with 25 million customers in 14 countries, Liberty claims.

Rumours B Sky B might bid on TalkTalk
My personal opinion is:
What a nightmare, but if done right could mean some major pressure for BT Retail / Business.
What a nightmare for B Sky B:
Implementation.Interoperability.
Consolidation
Support
Sky lock down their routers. TalkTalk let you use your own.
Why it could be good for B Sky B:
Increased network capacity
New subscriber up sell potential.
Traffic management experience
Parental controls
IPv4 allocation
Static IP's
IPTV experience (Tiscali TV was a true implementation).

I've worked at Tiscali (Freedom2Surf, Nildram, Pipex Business), V Networks (TalkTalk Business) and B Sky B.
